Which side are you on? How will you respond? @saintcityTV

We hear and read about the persecution of Christians around the world but never actually experience that side of faith here in America. Maybe because we are not actually living a true Christian lifestyle. Now before you get bent out of shape, let me explain.  Christ said that the world will hate us just as it hated Him. (John 15:18) and because we were chosen out of the world, the world will not love us. What does this mean for us as Christians in America, the land of comfort and bottled water.

Does lack of persecution mean we aren’t Christian?

This is by no means a works based devotional, but if we are actually doing the work of God even here under US freedom, the society around us will hate us. Yes, there may be undertones of prejudice against Christians but nothing like true hate.  Even as we have done street outreaches in secular art fairs or reciting gospel spoken word pieces on the Las Vegas strip we have never experienced more than someone telling us to “shut the F up” or “I hate religion”.  Yes that may be hate but not like others around the world go through.

When it comes down to it there is only one thing that makes you Christian and that’s faith in Jesus Christ which will manifest in many different ways.  It is my belief that through the authentic faith relationship we may be put into situations that will force us to count the cost and choose sides.  We can only pray for the strength to continue on through trials and tribulation.
