Deception #SaintCity
To cause to believe what is not true. To be misled.
It’s so easy to become deceived and the worst part about it is the fact that we don’t realize we are being deceived, when it’s happening. Normally, it’s the aftermath or someone else trying to point it out to us. Deception comes in all forms and sorts of disguises.
“Stop deceiving yourselves. If you think you are wise by this world’s standards, you need to become a fool to be truly wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God. As the scriptures say, “He traps the wise in the snare of their own cleverness.” And again, “The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise; he knows they are worthless.” ” – 1 Corinthians 3:18-20
To deceive: To cause to believe what is not true. To be misled.
Don’t allow yourself to become deceived. Stay strong in the word of God and act against it. We become deceived when we are vulnerable, especially when it comes to our weaknesses. Satan knows when to attack and is the best at deceiving people. When work is going so well and we begin to think and speak negatively, when we meet someone of the opposite sex that we know isn’t going to be a good influence, when one thing after another seems to not go the way you’d hoped…Satan waits for these moments and attacks right then.
“The prudent understand where they are going, but fools deceive themselves.” – Proverbs 14:8
Of course you’re not going to realize that you’re being deceived when you’re being deceived….because you’re being deceived!! If someone tries to tell you that you’re going in the wrong direction, instead of becoming defensive immediately, go and think about what they said and if it’s true, fix it! We’re human and it’s extremely easy to get caught up in this world and in this life. Work takes the majority of your time then perhaps family, activities..etc. I’m guilty of it. The difference between the way I was a few years ago and now is the fact that I acknowledge it and correct it as opposed to sweeping it under the rug. Instead of getting defensive, I’ll revisit my actions and motives and learn and grow from it. We all need to grow and we all go at a different pace. Be thankful if you have someone in your life that cares enough to tell you.
“He will use every kind of evil deception to fool those on their way to destruction, because they refuse to love and accept the truth that would save them.” – 2 Thessalonians 2:10
